October 2026 · Digital Waste Tracking mandate

Your internet goes down. Your weighbridge keeps running. Every ticket still reaches DEFRA.

WasteSync is the offline-first backup for your weighbridge. When the network or the regulator's API drops, it keeps capturing a compliant record for every load and files it to DEFRA the moment you're back online.

Pilots planned with a Scottish local authority and an electrical waste processor.

Oct 2026
The paper hard-stop for DEFRA-regulated sites.

When the mandate lands, a load with no digital record is a load you can't legally accept. Scottish sites under SEPA follow a little later. The three ways that record fails today:

Broadband drops
The gatehouse loses its line and the cloud form won't submit.
Poor mobile signal
Rural sites have no reliable 4G failover to fall back on.
Regulator API down
Even with signal, DEFRA's service can be unavailable when you need it.
The gap today

Standard cloud tools fail the moment the signal does.

Legacy waste tracking software assumes a live connection to submit every note in real time. On a remote weighbridge that assumption breaks constantly. When it does, the operator is left re-keying paper, queuing trucks, or turning loads away. WasteSync removes the connection from the critical path.

WasteSync catches every ticket, then files it for you.

01
Capture on any device

Operators record the transfer on a rugged tablet, kiosk or phone. The screen works identically online or off.

02
Encrypt in the local vault

Every record is encrypted and saved on the device first, so nothing depends on the network to be safe.

03
File to DEFRA automatically

The instant a connection returns, queued tickets sync straight to the government API, so no one has to remember.

Runs offline, indefinitely
No storage expiry: capture for days, sync when you're back.
Encrypted UK vault
Records encrypted on-device and hosted in UK data centres.
Files to DEFRA & SEPA
Automatic submission to the government API, in the background.
Tamper-proof record
Every ticket is cryptographically chained, so alterations are detected.

Built for the sites the mandate hits hardest

Answered before you ask

Do we need custom hardware?
No. WasteSync runs locally in the browser on your existing kiosk, laptop or tablet: if the browser is open, the system is fully operational. And if you don't already have suitable hardware, we can supply toughened Samsung tablets.
How long can it run completely offline?
Indefinitely. The local vault has no storage expiry. It accumulates tickets and signatures, then syncs them in order the moment a connection is detected.
What does a pilot involve?
If you successfully apply for one of our pilot slots, it starts with a journey-mapping workshop to find opportunities to optimise your process with WasteSync, prior to installing and then running in parallel to your existing process.
Where we're going

One trusted record, from the gate to final processing.

We start at the weighbridge, where the deadline bites first. The same record is built to travel: captured at the receiver today, extended to producers and processors next.

See it survive an outage on your site

We run up to 5 pilots at a time. We'll assess your application and tell you if WasteSync is right for your site.

Day 1 · Setup
15-minute kickoff. Secure foreman link or load the gatehouse kiosk.
Days 2–13 · Shadow
Run parallel to your current process. Capture loads offline, watch them sync.
Day 14 · Evaluate
Review sync latency and accuracy, then map your rollout scope.
